LI Vegan Adventures: Vegan-Friendly Eats on Long Island During the Pandemic

As COVID-19 rocks the world, we are, unfortunately, seeing a plethora of small businesses being forced to close their doors, some permanently and others temporarily. This, of course, includes vegan businesses, and Long Island is no exception. From restaurants to salons, if you follow some of them on Instagram, you’ve probably come across several posts announcing temporary closings (and hopefully ways you can support these businesses during this time).

Luckily, some restaurants are staying open, offering delivery and takeout, which means Long Island vegans can chow down on some delicious plant-based food and support local businesses.

This is a crazy time – so, if you’re able, why don’t you treat yourself or someone else to something nice and show your love to a Long Island business or two? If you’re looking for food on LI right now, check out some of the places below!

3 Brothers – Rockville Center, Lynbrook, Farmingdale, and Copiague, NY

The 3 Brothers chain of restaurants on Long Island are some of the most vegan-friendly around. Pizza, pasta, burgers, and more…honestly, they pretty much have it all. And there’s seemingly a location everywhere, no matter what part of LI you’re on. Our local 3 Brothers is the newest addition – Leona & 3 Brothers – located in Lynbrook, but you really can’t go wrong with any of them. Check out UberEats for their menus and current availability.

The Lindenhurst Diner – Lindenhurst, NY

If you’re craving some traditional diner fare right now, look no further than the Lindenhurst Diner. They recently announced the addition of a five-page all-vegan menu, full of delicious dishes, including frittatas (using the Just Egg!), paninis, chik’n and waffles, burgers, wings…With so many options, you really can’t go wrong.

Organic Corner – Massapequa, NY

Organic Corner touts itself as the first 100% organic, plant-based restaurant on Long Island, so it’s automatically a winner. They have plenty of healthy eats, such as smoothies, juices, and acai bowls, in addition to their pasta/noodle dishes and quinoa patties. Even better? The absolutely adorable cupcakes they create.

Green Street Food Truck – Levittown, NY

Looking for vegan and gluten-free food on Long Island? Then you might want to check out Green Street Food Truck’s schedule. The first and only gluten-free and plant-based food truck on LI, they offer healthy eats without any crazy ingredients. Follow them on Instagram to find out where the truck will be next so you can get one (or more!) of their smoothies, tacos, bowls, and sides.

They have delicious treats, including cookies and blondies, grab & go lunch items, and select grocery items, all of which are available for curbside pickup during this time. You can call to place an order and pre-pay or you can even use their online form to order online.

Organic Krush – Rockville Center, Roslyn, Plainview, Amagansett, and Woodbury, NY

Like 3 Brothers, there’s an Organic Krush everywhere. Though not entirely vegan, they have a dedicated vegan menu, offering smoothies, lunch, dinner, and all-day breakfast. While isolating at home, it’s easy to find yourself eating nothing but junk…but you have to be careful! That’s where Organic Krush comes in, providing you with healthy meals during this trying time.
